The Encore has been one of Vans most popular models in recent years because it delivers the sure fitting and easy tightening of the BOA lacing system at a price that is in most peoples budget. BOA technology was developed about 5 years back by a separate company and is licensed to various snowboard boot manufacturers. With it you just pull the knob out a click to loosen the laces. Then push/click it in to tighten .... then turn the knob and the super strong stainless steel cable/laces tighten snugly and evenly. It's very easy and reliable ..... and Vans has been making BOA boots about as long as anyone.
